Junior Doctors have been in bitter dispute with the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt over the new contracts that are currently being phased in, involving working hours, working conditions, pay and training. They are severely unhappy with the terms of the contract. For the first time in NHS history, there was an all-out strike by the Junior Doctors, even in the emergency service departments. The implications of such walk-outs, of which there were over 5 in the last year, are crushing for the National Health Service. So the question is; why are they so unhappy over these contracts, are we failing our junior doctors?
